Book Review: Wuthering Heights (Collins Classics)

Wuthering Heights was writen by a British writer - Emily Bronte, published on1847. This novel is considered the most greatest work of fiction she ever written. It not like a tradictional love story. It full of savage, ferocious and cruel. The stroy is telling around the life of a dark skinned boy, who was adopted by Mr. Eamshaw about seven years old. In that time, Mr.Eamshaw bring him back and calling him Heathcliff. It started from his adopted family, reduced to a servant and he ran away when hearing his loves wan decided to married with another person. A few years later, he came back to Wuthering Heights and set his revenge on the two families that he started to destroyed his life.
The story began from Mr.Eamshaw. Heathcliff was an orphan brought home by Mr.Eamshaw and his household to Wuthering Heights. Mr.Eamshaw treated him very well just like his own son. That's why Mr.Eamshaw's own son Hindley was immediately jealous of him. When Heathcliff grows up he falling in love with Catherine. Ater the father died, Hindley takes over the household with his wife. Heathcliff finds his life totally changed. Catherine makes friend with the linton children of neighboring Thrushcross Grange. Though Catherine knows that the person whom she loves in her heart is Heathcliff. But, she was aware that she and Heathcliff will never be together with each other if they marry. Therefore, she accepts the proposal of the Edgar Linton, the ealthy owner of the nearby Thrushcross Grange. Heathcliff is so upset and wrath after hearing Catherine say that it would be a degradation to be married to him. So, Heathcliff determines to leace the house. He returns three years later with health and starts for his revenge. He gains the Earnshaw inhertance and sets out to ruin Edgar Linton. Unfortunateky, his lover - Catherine dies after giving birth to Catherine Linton. However, her died let Heathcliff's rage against. He married with Isabella Linton then. Both LInton and Edgar dies and the Grange goes to Heathcliff who owns both Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. In the end of the story, Cathy is loving Hareton and when Heathcliff dies, both Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange belongs to them.
Wuthering Heights, Emily Brote's only novel is a tragedy but with a sunny ending, In this story, Catherine is one of the main characters. She dilemma between love and marriage in Wuthering Heights. Actually, she doesn't want to live with Lintons, on the other hand, she lost her own love that she ever had with Heathcliff in their childhood. When she alive, she is trying to choose between Edgas and heathcliff and at last she lost herself completely. Catherine aspires to back in her eaven even being a spirit. I think she is the only one to ush herself in the tragedy, the endless dilemma between her love and marriage, which won't end up until her death. Otherwise, Heathcliff as he search for the revenge result in losing his soul mate. Finally, he stop eating and sleeping, and Ellen find him dead one morning with a savage smile on his face. He was buried next to Catherine, as he had wished. Heathcliff, who seems like a strong resemblance in both Hareton and Cathy to Catherine, no longer feels the need foe revenge. On the whole, it's a peace and happiness story. And so this continues with the next generation - the reappearance of Heathcliff.
